        Cycling Around My Neighbourhood

        November 7, 2017

        Still remember my Kelly? :D

Barely use it right now but I am still trying hard to make full use of it.

I miss cycling along Labe river in Hradec Kralove. Cycling is not that safe here in Malaysia, especially on road. There was one time I rode on the main road, looked like a crazy girl waving my hands every time I wanted to change lanes. Not to mention how ehemmm drivers in Malaysia behave T___T

Haven't try off road as I don't think Kelly is okay for such routes.

Just finished reading Hiatus, hence 'Another day'. :)

Let me take you around my neighbourhood.

My house is quite far from the main road, so I can say it is a bit quite. When there was not much development around, I could even listen to trains passing by from far away. Now I guess, the sound is absorbed by nearby houses. Maybe. There are many new neighbourhoods right now :)

        17 years.
Years our family have stayed here. And counting :)

Kelly was doing great job despite he was abandoned in the store for quite a while T_T

People haven't build houses in this area.

Random banana trees along the road.

This is pokok ubi kayu. I was nine when I know there was literally 'ubi' down there. I was so enthusiastic about gardening at that age, especially how to plant trees. :D And I thought people just use the leaves as ulam T__T What is 'ubi kayu' in English anyway?

Pokok petai belalang. This is yummy as well as ulam! :D

There are many more trees around - kelapa, all those serai kunyit temu cabai, mangga, betik. :)

For the time being, I need to jog/run more than cycling as I have 50km to achieve within the first 21 days of November.

So, Kelly you take care of yourself.
I locked you outside so you can be friends with the cats. Haha.
        Have fun!

        Cycling Trip : Pardubice, Czech

        March 8, 2017

The route was similar to the one I did in 2014 to Vysoka Nad Labem, just I cycled further to the south of Hradec Kralove to another city, Pardubice. My cycling momentum was not that good even though I started cycling again to school. Maybe 2 months of break (from the bicycle) is the main reason for this. I still have a month of bus card anyway. Hmmmm.

I will think about the bus card later.

        Cycling Trip : Pardubice, Czech
There is a castle as the background if you realise. :)

Honestly, for all those adrenaline-rush activities I've done.... I believe the mental strength controlled them all.

It was always great to plan the route, but, I was gasping for air after 5-6km where I had at least 15km to go. My thigh and leg muscles were kind of giving up. But, the weather was nice, with sunshine and not that cold. Just, the wind was not helping much. Instead of pushing me forward, unfortunately the wind was attacking me from the front. Plus, the air pressure from the passing cars literally pushed me to the side of the road with deep drains.

        Not good, not good.

        Cycling Trip : Pardubice, Czech
I can feel spring is coming :)

I passed many neighborhood and surprisingly for the first time ever, I did not take lots of photos along the journey. I was really tired to paddle my bike, could not think much to hold the GoPro. My phone was safely attached to the handle (as navigation).

Upon reaching Pardubice, I was greeted with Labe River. Although it is basically the same river that passes Hradec Kralove, the feeling was a bit different. Along the river I could see many people enjoying the sunshine by spending time together with friends and families. Some people were riding the bicycles, some were roller-blading while some people just walked. :)

I am so going to miss this view.

        Awesome weather for an ice-cream!

Told you, my stamina was drained. I just could not think about cycling for another 20+km to get back to my hometown. So, I decided to just take a train. Hehehe. Guess what, the ticket for a bike from Pardubice to Hradec Kralove was almost the same as a ticket for a person. T_T

Oh yea, bicycle in Czech is known as 'kola'.

        In the train

To hang the bike in the train was quite hard and luckily there was a helpful Czech who even helped me to take my bike downstairs and upstairs at the train station! Thank you so much!

Although this post sounds a bit depressing (ahaha), but hey, it was a very nice ride on a very sunny day, especially it proved that the spring is just around the corner. Wohoooo, can't wait for rapeseed fields, dandelions and green leaves again!

        Menara Basikal

        November 26, 2015

Sebab saya memang selalu naik basikal, menara ni sangat menarik perhatian saya masa kali pertama nampak. -_-' :D

Just watch this YouTube video yea to get rough idea what's going on.

p/s - Tengah consider nak bawak balik my Kelly ni, masih kira-kira berbaloi ke tak.
p/s/s - Basikal saya namanya Kelly.
p/s/s/s - Kelly tu sebenarnya literally jenama basikal. Lol. Pemalas cari nama.

4 Reasons Why I Love Cycling

        February 17, 2015

Most of my friends here already know bicycle (bike) is my main transportation in this town.
Thinking back how I started cycling here... haha, I just remember, the first time I cycle in HK; I got involved in a bike accident!

It was between me and another cyclist; in which I do not know until now, whose fault it was. :p It happened in front of the hospital, so, I just go straight to the emergency department. Nothing looks wrong physically and nothing wrong on X-Ray too. So, the doctor just diagnosed it as contusion (bruise; simply said, an area where blood capillaries ruptured - in Malay lebam kot?)

The bike's front tire damaged and the bike itself cannot be moved properly. And it was actually my senior's bike. T____T

Bringing the bike back home by bus.

        Pheww, what a start.

At the end of my first year, I bought a bicycle from my senior who's graduating soon. That's the beginning of my cycling adventure :)

After 1 1/2 year, I changed to another bike; Kelly. It was still second-hand. Brand new bicycles in Czech are very expensive! Seriously, like crazy. Yeah, I admit that they are from high quality brand; like Merida, Author etc. But, how can I afford to buy a bicycle for more than RM 1000? T_T

        -----

        Ceska Skalice, Czech

        Okay enough of introduction.
Let me share my reasons why I love cycling? ^__^

        I CAN SAVE MONEY.

Well, I know and realized that cycling to school / work is quite hard for us in Malaysia. The road itself is not bicycle-friendly; with less pavements to ride the bike and even to walk.

I'm trying to apply it here, since I have that opportunity. The big decision I made was not to apply for 10 months bus card. It costs CZK 1 500 for September to June. So far, I managed to save money for this but still I need to recharge my card for emergency.

I still remember one morning when it was raining heavily and I was cycling at that time. I have no other choice but to stop at one bus stop, and take the bus. I was taking my bike as well. Haha. Bicycle on bus / train is not that weird here :)

Another advantage in saving money is when I can't buy lots of things when doing my weekly shopping. Well, how can I hold plastic bags in both my hands while I need to cycle?

        Perak, Malaysia

I CAN TRY TO LIVE A HEALTHY LIFE.

People said that cycling burnt more calories / fat than walking. Actually it depends. For example, going to school with distance of 2 kilometers; 5-7 minutes by bicycle OR 20 minutes walking. Of course in this case, walking win!

But, if we compared 20 minutes of walking and 20 minutes of cycling. Which one will win?

        That's it. :)

I'm not saying I am very healthy, but, cycling to school help me not to fall asleep in the class. My weight is still not reducing much, but I am still happy to see my fat percentage drops and my muscle percentage increase. This is only IF the weighing scale is correct :p haha

        Along Labe river

I CAN BE CLOSER TO SOCIETY

For this point, I can say that I am more exposed to safety rules on roads. There are even traffic lights for cyclists too. And on certain roads, there are no special paths for cyclist, so, we need to share it with cars, taxis etc. I learnt to not forget to use hand signals. I learnt that I need to stop when I see people crossing the roads at zebra crossing.

Sometimes, I have the chance to ride to school with my classmates - and we called ourselves the bike team. :) I am more familiar with cycling shops, when I sent my bike for any repairs. And I learnt how to pump the tires with Czech gas station's pump style hehe.

        Vysoka Nad Labem, Czech

I CAN EXPLORE MANY BEAUTIFUL PLACES.

This is the best part of cycling here. :)

Surrounded with beautiful nature, fresh air. I managed to discover few nice places to spend the evening or weekend. I love riding along the river, greeted by the swans, the ducks and other cyclists.

There were many time when I always try to return home from school / hospital via different routes. That was amazing. I have the chance to see different kinds of Czech neighborhood and enjoy the views.

And that's one of my way to relieve stress too <3

        Around Malsovice, HK

I can't think of more reasons for now. :)

        And, what about you? :D

Cycling Trip ; Vysoka Nad Labem, Czech

        October 17, 2014

Another ride, and that time was to follow the flow of Labe river! It means to the south of HK, Vysoka Nad Labem about 8-9km away. It took nearly 50 minutes by bicycle if you stop a lot to enjoy the scenery. If not, 20-30 minutes will be your best achievement! Or maybe less ;)

This place, I guess more to peaceful neighbourhood and I can see a golf field on my way there.

In Czech Republic, generally there are lots of bicycle routes that you can use all over the country. And even most of them are marked with specific colours. Like the above picture :) Not only cycling, but any hiking routes will be marked almost similar.

I cycled between the faculty hospital and Labe river in the direction of Pardubice. The route was quite okay. Sometimes I needed to ride on the main roads but the drivers here are nice, it was not a problem. Just remember to use all the hand gestures to turn left / right or stop anywhere. And if there is any traffic light, stop and wait just like vehicles. Use GPS to make sure we are in the right direction if time is limited for us.

The map is stating 'You Are Here'.

After random time spent playing with the maps, I came out with this place. It was an observation tower, Milí? (rozhledna). It was reconstructed last year, if I'm not mistaken. With the height of 31 meter, it is said, from the top, people can see different mountains on different sides. Kunětická hora, Orlické hory, ?elezná hora, Krkono?e etc and also few highest points in center of HK - White Tower in Old Town and also Hotel Cernigov. Unfortunately, the moment I stepped at the top, I could not see any. It was cloudy; dark, thick one.

Before I forget, there are two ways to reach the tower - either riding the bicycle through a longer, hilly route (about 500-1000m) or just use this stairs (you can leave your bicycle locked down there or just bring it up the stairs). The second is surely shorter, but a bit steep.

I guess, that was my first time enjoying the autumn trees from top. :) Clearly seen different, beautiful colours of leaves around the tower. And even realising again how small I am from top. T_T Well, there is always a greater power than us, God :)

I would like to share 6 questions asked by Imam Ghazali to his students, when they were together.
And lets us ponder the values we can get from them.

        1. “What is the closest for us in this world?”.
Some answered; parents, teachers, friends, or relatives.

According to Imam Ghazali, all those answers are correct. But the MOST correct one is “death”. Why? Because that’s is a promise of Allah SWT that all living things will die. (QS. Ali Imran 185) I think what make it closer is we don't even know when it will happen. It can be next ten years, next week or even a second after you read this sentence. T_T

        2. “What is the furthest from us in this world?”.

Some of his students answered: China, the moon, the sun, and the stars. Then Imam Ghazali explained that all those answers are correct. But the MOST correct one is “past time”. No matter what we do, where we are we can never return to past time. So, that's the reason why we cannot really stick ourselves to the past when we have the present to take care of; by filling the current time with good deeds and prayers.

        3. “What is the biggest thing in this world?”.

Some answered: mountain, the earth, the sun. All those answers are correct, said Imam Ghazali. But the biggest thing from this world is “passion” (or nafs) (Qs. Al-araf:179). Most of the time, people will do whatever the fulfill their passion - and sometimes even in bad ways. So, let's be careful with what we want (the passion itself), don't let it brings us into the hell. Naudzubillah.

        4. “What is heaviest in this world?”.

Some answered: elephant, steel, metal. All the answers are corrects, said Imam Ghazali. But the heaviest thing is “to keep on amanah” (responsibilities) (Qs. Al-ahzab:72). Plants, animals, mountains, and the angels were not able when Allah SWT asked them to be a khalifah (leader) in this world. But human being proudly said his ability to the request from Allah SWT, so most of them enter the hell because they can not keep their amanah.

        5. “What is the lightest in this world?”.

Some answered: cotton, wind, dust and leaves. All those answers are corrects, said Imam Ghazali. But the lightest thing in this world is “leaving shalat”. Just because of our love and priorities to the world, we take shalat for granted; when shalat is the moment we speak to Allah and date with Him T_T

        6. Then the last question is, “What is the sharpest in this world?”.

His students answered together, sword. That is correct, said Imam Ghazali. But the sharpest thing is “tongue of men”. Because of our tongues, we can easily hurt the feeling of others.

        Wallahua'lam.

That made up my last Saturday morning :)
More trips to go, more routes to be discovered, more places to step in.

        Till then,

Cycling Trip ; Ceska Skalice, Czech

        October 10, 2014

This is the best thing I love to do ;) Spend time with nature. Yeah, I can say I spend quite much, but it feels different every single time. The journey, it will never be the same. What I get throughout the way, that's what I'm looking for. Enjoying the beauty of sky, reflected trees on the river's surface, green emerald water, fishes swimming happily, super clean environment - these are bonuses!

Cycling is my another favourite. I love walking-hiking more. Even though both are energy-consuming T_T.

So, this is about my latest trip!

        ?eská Skalice

It is a small town at the north of Hradec Kralove, worth 64 km cycling; return. Along the way, I went through Smirice, Jaromer and few others really small towns and neighborhoods. The good thing I observed, there were so many Czech people cycling along with us with their own destinations; in which that show how healthy life most of them are living. When few couple of elderly ride their bikes constantly faster than you, there must be something. :O Ouch.

My target of the trip; Rozko? Reservoir, known as the East Bohemian Sea. It is generally a water reservoir, can be seen if you travel from Adrspach back to Hradec Kralove by train. It's so beautiful from far! It is manmade, about 2km long. I read somewhere that this reservoir comes from Upa river and basically there are some power stations there (dams) and used to protect the area during flood. Since it's quite nice and kind of safe, it becomes the place for recreation, mostly water sports.

        I love you, dear Kelly!

And this is the town of Jaromer, and in the picture if I'm not mistaken is a church. Yeah, you can see the cross on top of the roof. It is more quite than Hradec Kralove for sure. I didn't read much about this town, but it is kind of famous with Josefov Fortress; obviously a military defence area.

The fortress is intended to protect against attacks of Prussians but it was not used much as most battles occur somewhere else. And another important fact, Ceska Skalice is also famous with the battle between Prussian and Austrian armies. It is said that many people died during the battle and there are many graves there in Ceska Skalice, but I'm not sure where it is exactly

Go along this river to get to the place I told before. This is the most favourite river in Hradec Kralove - Labe. Well, as people know HK itself is beautiful with the confluence of 2 rivers - Labe and Orlice, that run along the city. No wonder most people love them so much - for me I feel like they put peace to the city.

I would like to suggest Mapy.cz if you are travelling in Czech. Of course, it is in Czech language, but it is quite friendly and even better than Google Maps. Mapy.cz also helps a lot if you want to find some routes - either walking, hiking or cycling. Download it on the phone, and insyAllah you will find your way easier and will not get lost. Hmm, getting lost is fun actually but it is not really when you are a girl. :)

Let's get healthier, preserve the nature and peace yourself out! :D

See you when I see you,
        Assalamualaikum <3

Pray For MH370 | Cycling Around HK

        March 13, 2014

People is now still in confusion of where is actually MH370. I am confused too, especially after reading so many news of too much theories of what had happened. I will never say that theories are wrong, since usually from the theories, we can get the answers. But I don't really agree when people start sharing confidently what they read and saw - the UNCONFIRMED news.

I think me myself tend to do the same, yeah, people got excited. But, let's us try to keep quite with something we are not sure.

        source ; google

Theories may be true and sure they can be wrong. And even, most of the times our knowledge cannot exceed certain limit, and that is where Allah's knowledge starts, guys.

"Di mana sains berakhir , disitulah kuasa ALLAH bermula "

"Where science ends, is where Allah's powers begin"

Such a strong wisdom words from experienced pilot, Kapten Norudin.

        Allah gave us this incident to let us think back;
Are we strong enough to control the world?
Are we knowledgeable enough to know what happened all over the world?
Are we power enough to see the whole world?

Maybe we can, but we cannot depend on ourselves, and nobody can do all of them alone without any helps from others; people, machines, satellites, transports. But, Allah is capable to do them, himself, alone. If He said "kun fayakun", anything that He want, will be there.

We are so tiny and weak, people. And don't forget that true fact! :(

He may delay answering your prayer for a number of reasons; one is to test your trust in Him. Another reason is that Allah knows when it is best to answer. Allah also may delay the answer to make us work harder so we are prepared for it. - suhaibwebb.com

WAllahualam, He is the only One who knows everything.

While people around the world gather together and pray for the safety of airplane, suddenly we are shocked with the news of the presence of 'bomoh' in order to find the missing plane. Which is totally ridiculous and this had brought shame to the country and Muslims. It is totally opposite with what we believe in. Please, put all our hopes to Allah, He is our Lord. T__T

I still remember when I went cycling with my Norwegian friends around Hradec Kralove. We shared a lot of stories and I think that was the first time we talked a lot; together. I am quite silent, especially when I need to converse in English. One of the topics was about how to live different cultures as a person. My friends have families; of course in Norway and also in other countries in which they have 2 different culture backgrounds from both their parents' sides. I can feel they are strong enough to live with that, when sometime one of the culture cannot go along with the other culture.

And they asked me, what will happen if any of us (Malay Muslims) get married to someone who are not with the same background. I just explained what I know and understand. As long as the cultures do not opposite to what Islam teaches us, it is okay to continue it. Like Chinese New Year, there is nothing wrong to celebrate it when it gathers family to spend time together. Then, I shared about superstition. (Sorry, I forgot this word actually) This is quite hard for me, because literally, superstitions include something that we believe/do and we cannot see it. But that is what come cross my mind at that time. T_T

I said, as a Muslim, we only believe in one God and we only ask help from Him. While superstitions are practice of worship and seeking help from the adored objects - like what are commonly used by shamans (bomoh). And also by people who are friends with evil spirits, sorcerers and fortune tellers.

Muslims, does not matter from what backgrounds, cannot practice anything deviate/contrary to the faith, laws and morals of Islam.

"Indeed, Allah does not forgive association with Him, but He forgives what is less than that for whom He wills. And he who associates others with Allah has certainly fabricated a tremendous sin" 4;48

I gained a lot from my cycling trip. Alhamdulillah, Allah surrounded me with people with good personalities and from them, I learnt something. The words I can not forget; 'have a good relationship with God'. T__T

May 1.

Pernah jugak post pasal tempat ni sebelum ni, Tamrin Nisa kalau tak silap. :) Cumanya kali ni dengan basikal(!) instead of bas.

Sepanjang perjalanan, semuanya berjalan lancar. Fakta tentang Czech, basikal ialah satu kenderaan, in other words, konsep bawak basikal sama rules macam bawak kereta. Motorsikal pun sama. No way nak menyelit-nyelit. Dan signal semua pun applied to cyclist. :) Lampu takde waktu malam pun boleh kena saman. -_-'

Jadi, lets enjoy few more pictures with me. :)

St?íbrny Rybník ni letaknya di kawasan luar bandar dan frequent jugak bas lalu kawasan ni. Every hour, I think.

Rumah-rumah kat sini memang biasanya atas tanah (maknanya bukan jenis flat or apartment), dan mereka ada garden sendiri. Just tengok gambar kat atas tu. Nampak tak kuda? Weee, excited nampak kuda.

Ala-ala pohon sakura. Tak di Jepun, Czech pun ada ^_^

Hijau di mana-mana. Now I know kenapa orang suka warna hijau. Tenang, aman, damai. Rasulullah SAW pun suka warna hijau. Maybe lepas ni kena masuk dalam warna favourite. Hihi.

Bicycles and lake. :) Oh yee, basikal kat Czech ni sangat mahal. Especially first hand T_T. Pergilah mana-mana kedai basikal, mahupun kedai sports yang jual basikal. Average harga = 6000kc. approximately +-RM1000. Ada jugak yang mencecah 25 000kc. OUCH! :O

My own bicycle pun, kena simpan dalam rumah T_T. Langkah selamat.

        Tadabbur alam. Al-'Ankabut 53-69.

Standard style nak cari ayat tadabbur. Just open any page yang tangan kita terasa nak bukak. Pappp, sekali bila tadabbur, memang kena sekali dengan keadaan masa tu. Heaven!

"Dan jika engkau bertanya kepada mereka, "Siapakah yang menciptakan langit dan bumi dan menundukkan matahari dan bulan?." Pasti mereka akan menjawab, "Allah". Maka mengapa mereka bisa dipalingkan (dari kebenaran) " - 29:61

Kadang-kadang manusia ni memang excited or takjub (is it a suitable word to describe it?) dengan nama-nama Allah di langit, di daun, di pokok, di kulit anywhere you can say. Tapi bukankah Allah is still the one yang create the universe? Alam ni terbentang luas, semuanya belong to Him. Semuanya bergerak, terjadi dengan izin dan pengetahuanNya. Kan?

Jom sama-sama muhasabah diri. :)

I learnt a lot from the nature. His creation.
