I am not sure if you can find people talking about this movie on your Facebook
timeline, but it happened to mine. I was a bit hesitated to watch at first but
subhanAllah it was definitely a great movie to be appreciated! :)
It is actually a Turkish movie and I have no experience watching any before.
Synopsis:
The story played around the Korean War eras which was between 1950-1953,
where United Nations came to help South Korea from being attacked by North
Korea. One of the countries that send a lot of soldiers was Turkey. A
Turkish brigade was sent there, one of the soldiers was Sergeant Süleyman.
While Ayla was a 5 year old Korean girl, lost her parents when their village
was bombed. The name Ayla was given after she was saved by Süleyman from a
frozen night in the moonlight. Two of them developed deep connection as
father-daughter, where Ayla could be seen around Süleyman almost every time
and everywhere. They were together for almost 1.5 years.
Upon completing his task in South Korea, finally it was time for Süleyman to
return to Turkey and he found it difficult to leave Ayla. They were attached
to each other. Süleyman tried to leave Ayla at Ankara School but ended up
trying to bring Ayla back to Turkey in his suitcase - his mission failed.
Süleyman had to leave Ayla alone. Upon arrival to Turkey, he tried his best
to get in touch with the school but the communication was disaster because
of the war. Both of them reunited after almost 60 years. T__T
This is a real-life story where we can watch the documentary Kore Ayla on
MBC in 2010.

2. War Ethics
Ayla was found in the sea of dead bodies.
"Cowards! They slaughtered everyone, even the children."
Somehow, I suddenly recalled the war ethics of Rasulullah - one of them is
don't kill a woman / a child. Ayla witnessed her parents died and refused to
talk, maybe she was traumatized. Süleyman didn't want to leave her anywhere,
he ended up taking her to the base.

After failed his attempt to bring Ayla onto the ship back to
Turkey, Suleyman accepted the fact that he need to return alone. He promised
himself and Ayla that he will return to meet her.
The scene was heart breaking T_T
Can you imagine a small kid who had lost both parents in front of her eyes,
now need to be apart with the one she loved as a father? T_T

I am running out of time for this post, but I really want to write down the lessons I learned from this movie. Honestly, as a badminton fan, this movie has a soft spot in my heart. Especially to appreciate that a sport legend is not a legend at the first place, but he wins the world with efforts, passion, determination, supports etc.
Oh yea, this is the very first movie I watched alone in cinema.
So far that I can recall, I guess?
And I learned that I can get a ticket for only RM10 in TGV cinemas if I pay with Maybank card (for showing times before 6pm).

Honestly I don't expect much from it as I haven't watch any new movies' trailers. And I can't imagine the movie is going to be more to formal documentary or else. But, I finally decided to buy the tickets just because it is about badminton and Lee Chong Wei.

Well, when we are sorting out the puzzle, we need to organize every parts of it and sort them together to get a full picture of it. Same as the life.

Haha... I can relate my life to this. In my case, the person will be my family. No matter how hard my day is, every time I look at their faces (virtually for now), my energy get boosted :) May Allah bless them <3

4 Things I Love About Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle

Seems like I don't have much movie reviews in my blog although I love reading them from other bloggers' posts.
Since I can count how many times I went to the cinema for the last 5 years, I am not that used to book tickets online. Yesterday was the day I finally signed up to be a member of TGV Cinemas. Haha. Siqah, I made it!
The offers are not that bad. With RM 30 per year if I am not mistaken, I can get these:
- Movie Freebies - I can redeem 2 free movie tickets plus 1 regular popcorn set when I sign up (in which I already redeemed them hehe)
- Birthday Freebies - The same offer as Movie Freebies (but only within my birthday month)
- MovieMoney - Siqah mentioned that we can get points for our purchases and use the points to redeem tickets etc.
- Etc.

So, I requested to watch Jumanji and managed to tag along my youngest aunt and youngest cousin (from my father's side) to TGV Aeon Klebang. It was the first day of school, I knew but I were more than excited to pick him up from school (in which Ayah did) and off we go.
You know the feeling when you really want to make use of all free times you have with your beloved people. :)
What Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle is all about?
It is the continuation of the first Jumanji (previously released in 1995). The concept is actually similar but it is really fascinating on how they made it to be modern, I mean to suit the current lifestyle (like video games instead of board games)
The plot is about four teenagers, Spencer, Fridge, Bethany and Martha in detentions due to different reasons. They get teleported into Jumanji's world. In the video game, they are not themselves but in the bodies of avatars instead, with different strengths and weaknesses compared to their real life. With the game's jungle setting, they need to pass all dangerous levels of Jumanji to exit the game. Along the way, they met another guy named Alex who was stuck there for 20 years!
The goal of the game is to return the jewel (Jaguar's eye) to the huge Jaguar statue and call out Jumanji. I am really looking forward to the adventures they will face along the journey!

1. Expect the unexpected!
I love when they figured out their strengths and weaknesses. And through out the movies, I am amazed on how they try their best to suit the traits they have in the game even though they have totally opposite characters in the real world.
You can look forward to what happen when the geekiest boy at school becomes the strongest person, when the nerd girl becomes a commando who knows fighting, another girl becomes a guy in the game and the last one, how an athlete becomes the weakest one.
2. The teamwork!
Since they have different skills, they need each other to survive every single level! In reality, even though sometimes we need to sacrifice ourselves, be glad that we are actually contributing to results. The results, wallaaaa. Awesome!
But, be careful if people take you for granted. :)

3. We have only one life.
Oh yea, in the game, each player is given 3 lives in which they need to make sure they get out of the game before losing all lives or else they may end up stuck in the game forever.

I love how things look like after they return to the real world. Especially for Alex. Watch it and you will understand what I mean.

All in all, it is a great movie to watch with the family. Despite there are few sexual jokes here and there but I think it is not too much.

I Am So In Love With You, Moana

I've been growing up with Disney, Pixar etc that got along in few phases in my life. Didn't watch all of them and I simply could not recall most movies but one that is very significant to me is Mulan. She is honestly a character that I love so much.
End of November, people keep sharing about Moana and all controversies and conspiracies of the movie. Lol. Tinggi sangat imaginasi masing-masing. I was in Malaysia end of last year but I didn't have the chance to watch the movie at the cinema. So, here I am, watching Moana after months it has been been released. :)
I knew it that I will love this movie as much as I love Mulan!
For those who have not watch Moana yet, let me share a brief synopsis.
Moana is a daughter of a village chief and she is going to be a leader to her people very soon. They live on an island where Moana is always attracted to the sea since she was a small kid but her intention is always opposed by her father who cares for her safety. Until one day, she is finally crossing the sea to find ways to help her island that is attacked by blight. She meets Maui, a sea demigod who finally helps her to fulfill her task.
Well, as usual, I will always try to learn something from any videos that I watched. Hehe. Here are few things I would love to share with you guys. :)
1. Reflecting who we are.
In this movie, Grandma Tala plays a great role to make Moana realized her true potential and who she really is. Being one of the elders, she knows well about the history of the village and delivers it to the children (although it may looks like folk stories). But, Moana is the one who finds the story to be so real and interesting.
Once we know our history, we will know how great we used to be.
Few years ago, I was exposed with the history of Islam (though I am quite bad with history and figures and names and so on haih), but this one that I've learned gave me sparks on how Islam and Muslims were so amazing one time ago. We used to rule at lead 2/3 of the world, with great names like Khalid al-Walid, Salahuddin al-Ayyubi, Sultan Fateh.
They were great warriors!
2. Be thankful and grateful with all blessings.
Maui is a wind and sea demigod. Demigods are usually claimed by Roman emperors like the one in Percy Jackson.
So what can I say except "You're welcome"

Ignore the demigod parts but try to look from the perspectives of humans.
We tend to forget and not acknowledge all things that God has created for us. Ourselves, family, shelters, food, animals and so on. We keep on asking for things that we want but not really saying thank you for all the things we are already given.
3. Keep going!There will never be at least once in our life that we feel like we are giving up to do something. I can't count how many times I feel like packing my stuffs and quit doing what I am doing right now. Things are getting harder but with hardships, our hearts are actually going stronger. Hopefully.

But, somehow, along the way we may find out we are not actually doing things that we really want. Things change over time, people as well. Not to forget, our preferences. So, think wisely before taking any big leap to change our way, or to stay, or to leave everything that we have done behind to start a new life.

Our choice. But think about the consequences. If we are willing to take the challenges, go on. Do anything that suits us.
4. You can find happiness right where you are.
I am speechless actually to elaborate this. Sometimes, happiness comes in a way we don't even expect.
A simple 'Hi. How are you?' can makes my day. A happy gesture from other people can make me smile. Reading emotional posts can lead me to happiness tears.
It depends on us on how we perceive happiness. Personally, I try to be happy in anything I do - to see how it can benefits me, either physically or spiritually, no matter what the things are. Of course, with some complaints in the beginning. T_T My weakness.

5. It is time to go home.
Moana does things for her people. She sails across the ocean to help her village. I can see myself in her. Maybe not literally sailing with all those sea creatures. But.... I think you know what I mean. ;)

5 Things I Learned From Bajrangi Bhaijaan [MOVIE]

I just watched a touching, meaningful story of a Pakistani girl, who was lost in India. The movie showed how a very kind guy was willing to sacrifice his time and money to take care of her. He even risked his life to take her back to Pakistan even without passport and visa.
Love.
Humanity.
Here, I would love to share few things I learned from this movie and insyAllah may you be inspired with these as well :)
Mind you, watch the movie first before you read this, or else you will not really get the connection of what I am sharing about. Hihi.

1. The beauty of Kashmir. :)
The beginning of the movie is about Shahida and her family watching cricket tournament on television near their house in the mountain area of Sultanpur. The view from this village was very mesmerizing and very Switzerland's like. I bet, so many people loves this kind of view to wake up with and have a cup of tea or coffee, right? So, why not put Kashmir in our bucket list? :D
Do you know that Kashmir is also a part of Pakistan? If not, we are in the same boat. Haha. Pardon my geography! Actually a part of Kashmir is also in China but it is not really recognised by India. I wonder why.
The beautiful scenery here is enough to lead me checking the flight ticket to Kashmir. Looks like one of the nearest airport is Srinagar Airport if I'm not mistaken. You can check this link to see what can people do in Kashmir :)
I just checked e-visa to India for Malaysians costs 49 USD for single entry, valid for 30 days. It is needed prior to arrival. But, I have no idea about Pakistan.
2. We can still help people of different faith.
In this movie, we can learned that the guy named Pawan is so faithful to his religion, Hindu. A reminder to me as well, am I a good Muslim? Pawan is very kind and religious. In nearly one hour of the story, only then Pawan knew that Shahida / Munni is a Muslim, who is totally different that him and his girlfriend's family (her father really hate people of different caste).
And did he leave Munni alone after he knew that? Nope. Or maybe he planned to actually, but that idea was stopped by Rasika :)
He still tried hard to take Munni to Pakistan Embassy and did many other things, just to let her be with her family again.
Did he lost faith in his religion after having so many memories in different mosques and spending time with few Muslims? Not, right?
A thing to ponder here :)
3. Money is not everything, but everything needs money.
We can reflect this in the scene when Shahida's parents need to sell their goats to get money for the passport and visa to India. For the sake of the daughter :) And let's reflect how our parents or family spent the money they hardly earned for our happiness and things we need? T__T
How about another scene?
After not being able to leave Munni in Pakistan Embassy (because of the riot), Pawan tried to go to a travel agency where the agent asked for extra money to offer 'informal help' to Pawan. Pawan and Rasika sacrificed their money (which supposed to be used to pay for a house's deposit) to the agent.
I really hate the agent guy who had the gut to sell Munni to those kind of people. Money really makes people blind sometimes. Or to some people T____T
Reality hurts!
4. Work hard.
I think this life lesson comes along in so many scenes in this movie!
Just like the scene when Shahida's parents sacrificed for the passport and visa to India. I am sure, we all knew that taking care of goats is not an easy job. It takes patience and hard work to do so. Why did they do that? Why to India? Just because someone shared there is a place in Delhi that the prayers can be accepted.
They want the best for Shahida.
Another scene, funny one. This is when Pawan failed the exam for 10 times! and received a slap for each of the failure from his father. Did he give up? Did he cheated in the exams for the sake of passing? Nope!
He tried again, again, again and again, and finally pass. He didn't even expect that his father will die out of shock because he passed. T__T
One more, I was amazed when Pawan and the rest tried hard mentioning so many names of cities in India to guess where Munni came from. It was so funny though and I kept on thinking, "why are they very patient to keep guessing like that?"
If you watch the movie, I am sure you will realised many more! :)
5. Social media is the best, fastest way to spread news.
For this, I can reflect how the journalist came up with the idea to share the story of Bajrangi and Munni via television. However, he was rejected by the television stations because the story was not that 'famous or strong issue' for the stations.
He did not give up, he still uploaded the video on YouTube, hoping for more clues. The video raised people's awareness on this issue. They even showed support by going to Kashmir's border to send Pawan crossing to India.
Well, how many of us received news on any issues from social media?
How many of us still read the newspaper (physical one)?
How many of us share the news we knew online?
See.
A thing can gets viral just by uploading or sharing on the Internet. So, can I say Internet is a good place to share good things? And it can be otherwise vice versa?
Think hard and spread only good things :)
