        Ways of Life

Karma by Muharikah | Book Review

        June 11, 2020

Karma is the sequel of Stigma, written by the same author. This book was bought during previous BBW, and I somehow know that there will be another sequel (the last one) for this series, I decided to postpone reading it till Dilema comes out :)

I can't imagine of waiting for Dilema after dealing with Karma.

Karma by Muharikah | Book Review

        Title: Stigma
        Author: Muharikah
        Pages: 419
        Publisher: Iman Publication
        Publication Date: March 2019

While Stigma introduced the main characters, Karma is more focus on the relationships between Dr Iman & Dr Faris who got married together and how they managed their relationship with their hidden history. Dr Iman as we all know, is the boss in the ward that Dr Faris works in so it is undeniable that Dr Iman has the dominant side of her as a leader. While Dr Faris is still fighting with his struggle, unfortunately both of them were surprised with sudden bad news - Dr Faris has a lymphoma! And turned out he is HIV positive too. Dealing with both situations, we can see how both of them trying their best to save the marriage, though I feel mixed feeling with the ending. T_T

        Based on online dictionary,

"Karma - (in Hinduism and Buddhism) the sum of a person's actions in this and previous states of existence, viewed as deciding their fate in future existences." - https://www.lexico.com/en/definition/karma

        I love the quote :)

        1. "Let the husband lead the family."
I am attracted to this part, maybe because I am still new in this relationship thingy, to be exact... approaching 10 months of marriage. Alhamdulillah. :)

Karma by Muharikah | Book Review

I got the feeling when Faris' position is below Iman at the hospital, but Faris is still Iman's husband to be respected. Point noted.

Well, if you guys have been reading the blog for a quite some time, I guess you can see how independent I can be... especially with those solo travels. Yeah, I can be dominant too. But, I think through out times, I prefer being the follower. :D No matter how I am able to do something at home, I will try my best to include my husband in the decision making so that nobody feels left out. InsyAllah!

        2. "Medical service is about human act and human touch."
This is also another reminder to me as a health care worker :)

Karma by Muharikah | Book Review

I have love-hate feeling when attending patient as I can't help to feel annoyed every time I met some kind of cases / patients like:
        • accidents involving patients under 18, especially if they are not wearing helmet and do not even have license!
        • accidents involving drunkens!
        • patients who came in a worsened condition just because they ARE NOT COMPLIANT TO MEDICATIONS!
        • patients who came at 3 o'clock in the morning for something they already have for months and years and they don't even bother to get it checked before.
        • yada yada. Hahaha.

Banyak betul complaints. But, insyAllah for other cases, I am trying my best to give the best with the best attitude :)

Karma by Muharikah | Book Review
Aha... quite a number of cases that I have attended involving huge stress or poor management of it that lead to suicidal attempt - taking paracetamol in huge doses (for eg: telan Panadon 4 papan!), drinking Paraquat (herbicides to control weeds).

        3. "Tidak ada karma dalam Islam."
"Yang ada adalah ketentuan dan takdir Allah yang telah diatur buat kepentingan manusia itu sendiri. Setiap perkara yang Allah takdirkan, sudah pasti ada kebaikannya, walaupun kita membencinya."

Karma by Muharikah | Book Review

In this novel, Iman feels like she has done too much sins that Allah is punishing her with lots of challenges. And I think this is the answer to the challenges :)

        4. Miracles

"Allah itu Maha Baik, kan kak? Setiap yang pergi, sudah pasti ada pengganti."

Faris passed away. He did not the survive despite completing the chemotherapy etc as the cancer has spread to the whole body. To be honest, this is such a sad new especially after the patient has consistently compliant to all appointments and medications - seems that the limit of our knowledge and ability given by Allah.

But, to know a good news after the sad one... is so refreshing :)

        Recaps of Pangkor Run 1.0

        June 24, 2019

        16/6/2019 - Pangkor Island, Perak

To my surprise, there are lots of running events being organised around my working area - Manjung. Or maybe it is because currently I don't have much issue with logistic - like I can drive around to almost anywhere haha. So, after meeting few friends with common interest which is to join running events, we decided to give a try with this Pangkor Run.

I were very excited to imagine myself running along the beach and yeah, it was one of the nicest feeling ever! :D

Anyway, I feel like I gradually losing my writing skills, so, bear with this one yea. :)

        15th June 2019
Most of us were on postnight shift that day. It was quite an eventful night shift the previous day - with non-stop cases referred from Emergency Department and of course no sleep achieved that night hahaha. We were basically berkampung in ED attending new cases.

Went home around 10am, took our breakfast, did few pending stuffs here and there then... suddenly it was already 1pm. Actually we planned to take a ferry to Pangkor around 3pm. Unfortunately, the three of us overslept and woke up almost 5pm. We rushed to pack our bags, aimed for 6pm's ferry from Marina Island.

How to get to Pangkor from the mainland?
Only via ferries. I heard they want to redevelop the airport but later I guess.

You can take ferries either from Marina Jetty or Lumut Jetty.
It's been a while since I took the ferry from Lumut, so, not sure much about the rate and schedule. But if from Marina Jetty, here are the schedule and rate - much expensive but you can get to Pangkor at shortest time compared to Lumut :)

You can park your car around the jetty with RM15/day.

        Ferry Schedule

        Ferry Rates

Here is the ambulance boat - to transport patient from Pangkor Island to Hospital Manjung - for any emergencies that need further management in bigger center. There is a Klinik Kesihatan there, in Pangkor anyway. :)

We checked in Puteri Bayu Beach Resort that night, booked a room for girls and another room for boys. Rate was RM100 for each room, with 2x breakfast each.

        16th June 2019
Woke up around 5.30am, as the run will start around 6.30am. To be honest, this was the first event that really start the run on time, lol. Actually, even 5 minutes earlier. Run was okay but my pace was just acceptable. Hahaha.

Dah lama tak lari, memang haru la pace nya.

5 of us. Another one was having AGE-_-'
Tadaaaa, here is the medal :D

After the run and taking pictures here and there, the girls decided to enjoy the beach and the view. Since the hotel was connected to the beach, we didn't have to take any taxi / walk far though. :)

The view was amazing. I have not much memories of Pangkor since the last time I went to Pangkor was ages ago! Even, I have been working in Manjung for 1 year plus, yet, I didn't have the chance to go there within this 1 year haha.

        Loving the wave :D

        Nak berenang, tapi segan :D

The water was really cold :D But, still mesmerizing!

        The girls :D

The journey was short yet sweet.
Looking forward for more running events together with them! :)

        Let's go home :)

I've completed my 4th posting in housemanship :)
Pray for my next one, guys!
It will be either Paediatrics or Emergency department hehe

Doa Rasulullah SAW Kepada Anas Bin Malik r.a.

        November 3, 2017

        Credit: http://wanhassan.com/doa-rasulullah-pada-anas-bin-malik/

        Allahumma aksir maali wawaladi,
        wawasi’ li fii daari,
        wabarikli fima a’atoitani,
        waahsin aamali,
        waghfirli.

        Maksudnya:
Ya Allah banyakkanlah hartaku dan anak-anakku,
        luaskanlah rumahku,
berkatikanlah semua yang Kau beri kepadaku,
        perbaiki amalanku,

        Selamat beramal :)

        Happiness Is When...

        February 27, 2017

I came across this beautiful verse while reading few inspirational stories. Recently there was a recommended video on my YouTube feeds that I was very attracted to click and watch.

        1. "Happiness is when we can make others happy."

Have we realized that, when we are going through hardship or difficulties in our own life, there are some points we really would like to forget for a moment that we are actually in hardship / difficulties. Escapism; getting tired to talk about our problems, our physical deficits or our debts that we are in. And even, We would like to escape for a moment by not thinking about all those things. Then, we seek for someone with hope that they can give us a sense of being normal again.

But, trust me, the moment you said you don't want to think about something, is when you will continuously think about it.

Be happy, be a person who can find joy in the life despite extremely difficult circumstances.

        How?

By entering joy to the heart of others.
By bringing joy to a person's life.

Happiness is when we can make others happy

        2. The idea of be able to smile.

There is a smile that can cover all the troubles someone's living with.
Some people smile with a threat to another people. *gelakjahat* *senyumsinis*
There's a lot behind that smile.

But there is a smile or even laughter that can change a person's day and change his life altogether. Who knows when we smile to other person, it can transform a horrible day for him into a lovely one.

        3. "Smile is an emotional gift, given and received by hearts."

When we smile at a person who is in great trouble, sometimes we are actually giving hope that there is something more that the problems that he can look forward to. To someone who think he is a burden to the society or he is not valuable, by smiling, we are actually giving chance to him to feel like we enjoy his company and we love meeting with them.

"Smile on the face of your brother is charity" - Al-Tirmidhi, Sahih Ibn Hibban

A smile does not require any language. There's no English smile, American smile, Asian smile. We can simply communicate with a smile.

Happiness is when we can make others happy.
Meaningful picture to me. :) How can you describe this? Drop your comments hihi.

        4. How much does a smile cost you?

        Nothing.
Oh, maybe some contraction of our facial muscles. Haha

Think about when we enter our house after a long day of work.
Think about the moment we get into the car, fetched by our father.
Think about when we greet our parents during Skype video calls.

Did we brought our misery at school or workplace as the first thing when we come back home. Why is it important to check this thing?

It can set the way on how the rest of the day will go. And it can end up with arguments and fights.

Think about if we greet them with happiness and smile, with few kind words. T_T It will usually be a good start. We can always share our sadness, our bad day afterwards with a calm heart in a comfortable scenario.

We give to others what we want Allah give it to us. :)

5 Things I Learned About Happiness

        September 15, 2016

        (removed / transferred from hanisnina.com)

        Being happy.

It is a very vague statement that sometimes we cannot confirm we are feeling happy or not. Happiness cannot be judged by a smile of someone's face - as some of us even cry in happiness, right?

5 Things I Learned About Happiness
With age come increased wisdom and emotional intelligence.

With age comes increased wisdom and emotional intelligence. - WebMD

As a teenager, I must say that this is the age of exploring all adventures in the world, anything that can be done, any places that we can reach, any people who we would like to be close to. We have the adrenaline rush to do new things. Our problem is one - money. Not living for a long time yet, we don't have a solid source of income that stop us from fulfilling our desires.

Yes, that's why based on survey, when people pass middle age, they will be happier and less stressed about life. To be specific, people above 50 years old. Well, older people have more experiences with life that they managed to control their emotion in the way it should be. They don't have to worry more on how to improve life status as they have been in the situation before.

Music helps us to be happy.

Listening to songs or any musics can improve happiness as they help the brain to release dopamine. I just knew this while doing this quiz. :) From what I know, dopamine helps in reward system in our brain. What does it mean?

Reward system is how we can stay motivated. The feeling when we achieve success after we put our efforts on some difficult works with many hardships . I'm sure you can imagine how happy we will be.

        Boost happiness by feeling grateful.

When we do something by feeling grateful with we have been given, we can be more happy. Just like when you love someone, you are grateful to have known him / her - you tend to do anything for the sake of him / her.

I can relate this to feeling grateful to God. I know it is easier to be said than done. But, I try to reflect myself. If I am willing with my heart to do things for the sake of God, just because I love Him and not because that something is just my duty - it must be a happier feeling, right?

5 Things I Learned About Happiness
        They are just a lot.

He gives me things I need in life, though. :)

Money and intelligence cannot buy happiness.

But, I do agree that sometimes happiness need money.

People who are happy don't really find life as a race to survive. They are more optimistic in everything they meet each day and will turn it into opportunity that they will grab onto.  They don't really have enemies and people feel comfortable to be with them.

I'm really not in this group. But, one thing that I learn and have try applying it in my life - forgive people.

"Happiness is not the absence of sadness," - David Spiegel

God give us heart and feeling for us to feel different kinds of feeling. That is a normal thing about human. So, don't feel stressed out if we are not happy all the time.

Be idealistically right. We can't be happy all the time. Our life is like a wheel, sometimes we can be on top and sometimes at the bottom. Well, I can say that, being sad can also boost ourselves to improve more to achieve happiness.

Just, don't let sadness become powerful over your life. It should be only temporary, and please, MOVE ON.

Be not sad, Allah is with us. - Quran, 9;40

        --------

This post is inspired by a quiz from WebMD. There are few points that I learned from the quiz. And I have related them with my life. So, why not sharing them here?

Knowledge is to be shared, right? :)

Sejauh Mana Kita Hidup Dengan Rukun Negara?

        August 31, 2016

        Hari ni 31 Ogos. MERDEKA!

Ehemmm.

Bulan Ogos ni terasa istimewa untuk saya. Mungkin sebab saya ni August baby, kot. :D Haha

Banyak negara jugak sebenarnya ada hari merdeka bulan Ogos ni. (reference)
        9 Ogos - Singapore
        14 Ogos - Pakistan
15 Ogos - Republic of Congo, India, Korea
        17 Ogos - Indonesia
        19 Ogos - Afghanistan
        20 Ogos - Hungary
31 Ogos - Malaysia (now, I'm confused. Nak letak Tanah Melayu or Malaysia?)

        ------------------------------

        Back to the topic.

When I saw the title, I tried to say out loud the Rukun Negara. Nak tengok, diri sendiri ingat ke tak. Alhamdulillah, segan jugak kalau tak ingat. Tak ingat current rhythm lagu Perak pun dah cukup memalukan T_T

Haa, korang cuba recite Rukun Negara.
        Haha.

Kalau tak silap saya, saya tahu Rukun Negara ni masa sekolah rendah. Ala, belakang buku tulis sekolah kan ada Rukun Negara ni. Tapi, hafal setakat macam tu je lah. Takde nak hayati bait-baitnya. Tapi, bila dah besar ni, so many things I need to think.

So... that's what happen to me when I watch this Rukun Negara's video.

Acuan.... hmmm a bit 'over' for me, sebab dah terbiasa dengan 'kita kena hidup dengan acuan Al-Quran' - which is the best way of life for Muslims. Tapi, sebab kita hidup dalam zaman penuh nationalism, negara tu pun penting untuk kita.

Let's go through our Rukun Negara.

        1. Kepercayaan kepada Tuhan

Rata-rata orang Malaysia ni berpegang pada agama, maknanya kita percaya wujudnya satu kuasa besar yang kawal, jaga, bimbing kita semua. Tuhan. Rukun ni diletakkan yang pertama sekali sebab well, memang Tuhan should be at the first place in our life. Kan? Rukun Iman dan Rukun Islam pun meletakkan Allah kat atas sekali.

        How religious are we?

Sejauh Mana Kita Hidup Dengan Rukun Negara?
        Masjid Ubudiah, Kuala Kangsar

        2. Kesetiaan kepada Raja dan Negara

I used to adore kerabat diraja until one day, I do believe they are just human like we are.

I am not into politics, but I do hope someone who has appropriate power to bring up all those complaints from the common people to the government.

We are little ambassadors of Malaysia, right?

        3. Keluhuran Perlembagaan

Sekali lagi, I don't remember much about constitution.

See, now I realised how bad am I as a Malaysian not to have general knowledge on this!

        Kita tepek sekali kat sini.

        • Bahagian 1 - Negeri-negeri, agama dan undang-undang persekutuan
        • Bahagian 2 - Kebebasan asasi
        • Bahagian 3 - Kewarganegaraan
        • Bahagian 4 - Persekutuan
        • Bahagian 5 - Negeri-negeri
        • Bahagian 6 - Perhubungan antara persekutuan dan negeri-negeri
        • Bahagian 7 - Peruntukan-peruntukan kewangan
        • Bahagian 8 - Pilihanraya
        • Bahagian 9 - Kehakiman
        • Bahagian 10 - Perkhidmatan awam
        • Bahagian 13 - Peruntukan sementara
        • Bahagian 14 - Perkecualian bagi kedaulatan raja-raja dan sebagainya
        • Bahagian 15 - Prosiding terhadap Yang di-Pertuan Agung dan raja-raja
        (reference - Wikipedia)

        4. Kedaulatan Undang-Undang

Untuk ni, kena refer rukun ketiga kot? Sebab undang-undang dibuat berpandukan perlembagaan kan?

Cumanya, pihak / orang yang bersalah, tolong lah hukum 'sewajarnya' tak kira pangkat dan status. Orang kurang kemampuan bila mencuri sampai kena masuk penjara, padahal yang rasuah....I agree that nak buat pertuduhan tu susah, kena kumpul bukti dulu. But, still....

Pernah ada pengalaman sendiri, bila orang pecah masuk rumah, tuan rumah yang dipersalahkan sebab biar rumah dikelilingi semak samun jadinya orang keliling tak perasan pencuri masuk. Like... what?
Semak samun tu atas tanah orang lain, dah kenapa kita yang nak clearkan?

Belum masuk tuan rumah dipersalahkan sebab tak pasang grill kat tingkap, sebab tu pencuri senang masuk.

Sejak hari tu, saya buat konklusi... Malaysia belum selamat selagi pintu tingkap rumah wajib pasang grill.

Kenapa tak cari perompak ke lubang cacing?
        T__T

Sejauh Mana Kita Hidup Dengan Rukun Negara?
        Evening drive.

        Kita renungkan bersama...

Adakah kita masih buang sampah keluar tingkap kereta?
        bla bla bla.

        ------------------------------

Hehe, sorry lah, terasa berat pulak tajuk ni. Tapi, kita dah hidup lama dengan Rukun Negara, saya rasa dah masanya kita reflect balik macam mana Rukun Negara ni bagi pengaruh dalam hidup kita.

Zikir Harian & Zikir Taubat Nasuha

        August 5, 2016

I met a very kind woman, who used to pray Maghrib with my mother and I together since the past 3 weeks. She cannot hear well, but she has a very good eyesight. I can say she is intellectual and understand Arabic well.

Ahaa, before that, if you have been to Masjid Muhibbuddin Shah, Ipoh - you will know that the women prayer area is upstairs. But, if you cannot really climb the stairs (like my mum), you can just pray at the ground floor.

So, in this 'untuk wanita uzur' area, I accompanied my mum and most of the times, there will be 3 of us there.

        I just realised - I don't even know her name T_T

        -------------

She shared with us a paper of zikir harian. Let me share it with you guys as well :)

Mana tahu ni MLM pahala :)

From what I listen to tazkirah this one fine day, zikrullah insyAllah will help to protect ourselves from syaitan. As much as we remember Allah, our antibody against syaitan will be even more. :) If we leave zikrullah - we are exposing ourselves to syaitan's traps and tactics. Nauzubillah. T_T

        This is very awesome!

Hradec Králové is basically the town that I lived in for since 2011 and I love most things about it, especially the people. :D

Well, yeah some people are not that good to deal with. Of course we will remember those unforgettable moments of how people approach us with the fact that we are different. But, those are maybe just 10-15% of our memories here. So, just ignore them and keep moving on.

The video was recorded in the hospital here (not my video). If you can see the unique building on the right side - that is our Educational Center - for lecture rooms, study rooms, medical library etc. :)

I must say that I respect most drivers here, who mostly care about pedestrians and cyclists. Not only humans, they also care about animals! :D

InsyAllah, I will absorb all good cultures from Czech to share and spread to people back home ;)

They have their bad side, well, all people have it.

        Tapi, bak kata pepatah melayu,

Buang yang keruh, ambil yang jernih.

        Nice.

4 Kesan Ion Negatif dalam Hidup Kita

        April 26, 2016

Mungkin term ni direct translation dari bahasa Czech, I'm not sure. :D

"Air washing machine" ni ialah mesin yang menggabungkan humidifiers & ion generators.

Humidifiers ni rasanya ramai antara kita yang tahu kan? Rata-rata bangunan perlu ada humidifier - untuk lembabkan udara yang kering. Pernah dengar humidity kan?

Humidity - kuantiti wap air di udara (kelembapan)

Udara kering ni tak bagus untuk kita, udara yang lembab sangat pun tak elok jugak. Kena bersederhanalah, ambil tengah-tengah. :D

Low humidity boleh buat kulit kering, gatal hidung, gatal tekak, gatal mata. High humidity pulak akan tolong pembiakan kuman-kuman semua tu.

        -------------

Pernah tak rasa tenang sangat bila kita pergi hiking, lepak kat hutan mana-mana, picnic tepi sungai air terjun pantai semua tu? Perasan tak rasa tenang je lepas hujan lebat, siap kilat guruh petir semua tu?

        be grateful, quote

Tempat / situasi macam ni lah ada banyak negative ions! :D Teruja tak teruja tak? Haha.

        1. Ion negatif mencerdaskan otak.

Menurut kajian, ion negatif ni akan banyakkan aliran oksigen ke otak, jadinya kita takde lah lemau je tak fokus semua tu.

Pierce J. Howard PhD at the Center for Applied Cognitive Sciences says in the Owners Manual for the Brain – “Negative ions increase the flow of oxygen to the brain; resulting in higher alertness, decreased drowsiness, and more mental energy.”

        2. Ion negatif membersihkan udara.

Dikatakan kuman, virus, bakteria semua ni banyak ion positif.

        production of serotonin, melatonin
Kantoi kejap tadi dalam kelas pasal flowchart ni. Lol.

So, makan jaga ye. :)

        ------------------------------------
